Alura Trailer has completed another international mobile workshop project with the production and supply of a fully equipped 20ft mobile workshop container for Angola. The project was developed to provide a broad range of maintenance and repair capabilities directly at the operating site, reducing the need to transfer machinery and components to a conventional fixed workshop.
Rather than supplying an empty workshop container, Alura engineered the project as an integrated working environment. Power generation, compressed air, machining, welding, lifting, measuring, cleaning, storage and maintenance equipment were combined within one transportable workshop solution.
Project: Fully Equipped Mobile Workshop Container
Configuration: 20ft Container Workshop
Destination: Angola
Application: Field Maintenance & Repair
Manufacturer: Alura Trailer – Turkey
Remote maintenance operations require considerably more than a container with a workbench and a few tools. The objective of the Angola project was to create a self-contained technical workspace capable of supporting mechanical, electrical, fabrication, machining, inspection and general maintenance activities in the field.
The resulting workshop combines fixed machinery with portable service equipment and organized storage. Equipment positioning was planned to maintain practical working space while providing access to the main machines, cabinets, service connections and maintenance tools.
The container incorporates its own power and utility systems so that the workshop can support operations at locations where permanent workshop infrastructure may not be readily available.
A 33 kVA standby / 30 kVA prime diesel generator provides electrical power for the workshop systems and machinery. The project also incorporates a piston air compressor with a dedicated receiver, an air-conditioning system and distributed electrical and compressed-air connections.
| Workshop Type | 20ft Mobile Workshop Container |
| Destination | Angola |
| Generator | 33 kVA Standby / 30 kVA Prime |
| Electrical System | Three-phase workshop power distribution |
| Compressed Air | Integrated piston compressor and air receiver |
| Climate Control | 32,000 BTU air-conditioning system |
| Workshop Facilities | Workbench, industrial cabinets, machinery and organized tool storage |
One of the important characteristics of this project is the level of mechanical work that can be performed inside the container.
The workshop was equipped with machinery for turning, drilling, grinding and other metalworking operations. Additional equipment includes a milling machine, pipe-working equipment, cutting machinery and a range of professional mechanical service tools.
This gives the field team the ability to perform many component repair, adjustment and fabrication tasks directly at the work site instead of depending exclusively on an external machine shop.
The Angola workshop was also configured for fabrication and repair work. Its equipment package includes professional TIG and MIG/MAG welding systems, gas welding and cutting equipment and associated workshop accessories.
Portable extraction equipment supports welding and fabrication activities, while grinders, cutting tools, drilling machines and other electric tools provide the flexibility required for different types of repair work.
Accurate maintenance requires more than repair tools. For this reason, a significant part of the Angola project was dedicated to measuring, inspection and diagnostic equipment.
The supplied workshop includes precision measuring instruments for dimensional inspection together with electrical test equipment and specialist condition-monitoring tools. The equipment package supports activities ranging from basic mechanical measurement to electrical diagnostics, surface inspection and machinery-condition checks.
This allows maintenance personnel to identify faults, verify tolerances and evaluate components before deciding whether adjustment, repair or replacement is required.
Heavy maintenance operations also require safe handling of components. The mobile workshop therefore includes several lifting and pulling solutions.
An integrated 1,000 kg workshop crane is complemented by manual chain blocks, lifting accessories, slings, shackles, eye bolts, pulling equipment, jacks and other material-handling tools.
Together, these systems make the container suitable for maintenance tasks involving components that cannot be safely handled manually.
The workshop was designed not only for mechanical repair but also for the supporting operations required during field maintenance.
The project therefore incorporates water storage and pumping equipment, a 170 bar high-pressure washing system, hose reels and cleaning equipment. A dedicated waste-oil handling system provides a controlled method for collecting and transferring used fluids generated during maintenance.
Integrating these systems into the same workshop helps keep the service area organized while reducing dependence on additional support vehicles and equipment.
The complete equipment package was selected to support several maintenance disciplines from the same workshop.
A wide range of professional hand tools, electric tools, measuring equipment, consumables and workshop accessories completes the installation. Rather than listing hundreds of individual items, the equipment was organized around the actual jobs the field maintenance team needed to perform.
For mining, construction, infrastructure and industrial operations in remote regions, equipment downtime can be significantly more expensive than the repair itself. Transporting a machine or component to a distant workshop can add considerable time to a maintenance operation.
A containerized workshop brings technical capability closer to the machinery. Maintenance personnel can carry out inspection, repair, fabrication and component work at or near the operating site using a controlled and properly equipped workspace.
The container format also makes the complete workshop easier to transport between projects when operational requirements change.
The photographs below show the actual Alura Trailer mobile workshop container and workshop installation manufactured for the Angola project.
The Angola project is an example of Alura Trailer's project-based approach to mobile workshop containers and truck-mounted workshops. The final configuration of each workshop depends on the work that the service team needs to perform rather than on a fixed standard equipment package.
Projects can therefore be configured around mechanical maintenance, mining equipment service, fleet maintenance, lubrication, machining, welding, tyre service, hydraulic work or a combination of several disciplines.
Generator capacity, compressed-air requirements, machinery, lifting equipment, workbenches, storage, electrical installation and service systems can all be engineered according to the customer's intended operation.
Projects in Africa frequently involve long distances between operating sites and permanent maintenance facilities. Containerized and truck-mounted workshops provide a practical solution where maintenance capability needs to move closer to mining sites, construction projects, fleets or industrial operations.
Alura Trailer manufactures mobile workshop solutions in Turkey for international projects, with the internal configuration developed according to the customer's maintenance scope, destination and operating conditions.
The mobile workshop shown in this project was manufactured by Alura Trailer for delivery to Angola.
The project was based on a fully equipped 20ft container workshop designed for field maintenance and repair operations.
